Learn why the future of urban China is more tortuous than ever: the return of the Central power, Xi Jinping's plans for a new emblematic city and the bumpy Belt and Road Initiative.
Thank you Fabien and congratulations for this (once again) very interesting and well prepared podcast that reminds me of my Harvard & MIT years (sorry being older than you it was in the previous century, time is flying isn’it ?!) where at the time professors like Bill Doebele were already trying to grasp with and make sense of the urbanization wave in China that started more or less in Shenzen. I’ve never set foot in China, but I went many time to Northern Vietnam and witnessed the same thing happening in a more chaotic manner probably. At the moment I’m trying to give recommandations to Hanoi’s authorities about the way to plan more « sustainably » their so-called eco-towns and satellite cities and I must say it’s a difficult exercise !
